Safety Training
In compliance with
federal regulation and the Portland VA institutional policy,
all investigators, research staff, and other relevant
personnel (those reasonably involved in basic science
research) must complete the VA's Safety Education Training.
Safety education is
now made up of a series of modules you can view online.
Below are step-by-step instructions and a breakdown of
which modules to view based on your type of work/research.
Everyone is required to do the first module titled
General Safety. The other two modules are based on the
type of work you do at the VA. For example if
you work in a wet lab you will also take the Biosafety
module, and if you work with radioisotopes, you will take
the Radiation Safety module (many of you will be taking
all three).
Submitting the completion
section at the end of each module will notify the Research
office that you have completed your training. After verification
you will be sent a certificate of completion for your
records.
Module
1: General Safety (required for all Research
employees)
Module
2: Biosafety (required for Research employees
who work in wet labs)
Module 3: Radiation
Safety (required for Research employees who
work with radiation)
