Publication Costs
The VA Research Service will provide
funds to cover or partially defray the costs associated
with publishing peer-reviewed reports of original
research findings. The policy was approved by the
R&D Committee on October 19, 1998.
For each manuscript accepted for publication
that meets the criteria described below, up to $250
will be provided to cover page charges. Fees associated
with ordering reprints are not covered and remain
the responsibility of the author.
Criteria
- You must be the first, last or corresponding author.
- The qualifying author must be at least a 5/8th VA
employee.
- The manuscript must be a report of original data
(not a review) accepted into a peer-reviewed journal.
Procedure
- Hand deliver the galley proofs and order form to
the Administrative Officer in Research Service. This
policy applies ONLY if the galley proof is first presented
to the Research Service office prior to returning
the order form to the publisher.
- If the above criteria are met the author will be
responsible for arranging payment and his or her research
program will immediately receive a $250 credit.
- The Research Service staff is aware of the 48 hour
turn around time associated with galley proofs and
will expedite all requests. In addition, the Research
Office staff will place the manuscript on the R&D
agenda for review and approval.
