At the Mood Disorders Center, we believe that providing the best care to our patients today goes hand in hand with researching what the best care will be for them tomorrow.  We currently have research projects in the following areas:

Bipolar Disorder

• STEP-BD - national, multi-site treatment study - the largest ever conducted for bipolar disorder.

Interferon-Induced Depression

• Clinical Studies - examining prophylactic use of antidepressants to prevent interferon-induced depression in patients treated for hepatitis C in veterans.
• Basic Science - examining the neuroscience behind interferon's psychiatric side effects.
