Support Groups - monthly meetings that provide encouragement, assistance and information for patients, family and friends.

For Clinicians - mental health professionals in or visiting the Portland area are invited to join us for the Mood Disorders Center's monthly journal club and case presentation meetings.


Education Groups

Hepatitis C

The NW Hepatitis C Resource Center, a partner of the Mood Disorders Center, offers a one-time education group about hepatitis C. This class is open to veterans and those who care about them.

Education groups for hepatitis C are held the first and third Friday of every month at the Portland VA Medical Center. If you are interested in attending, please contact the NW Hepatitis Resource Center at (503) 273-5264.

Support Groups

Hepatitis C

In conjunction with the NW Hepatitis C Resource Center, the Mood Disorders Center holds monthly support groups for patients with hepatitis C, their families and friends.  The groups are led by staff social worker Michelle Blum and patient volunteer Gene Mask.

These groups are held the third Wednesday of each month from 10:30am-noon, in the Mental Health Clinic at the VA Medical Center.  Please contact Michelle Blum, 503-220-8262, ext. 53273 if you would like to learn more about the support groups.

Bipolar disorder

The Mood Disorders Center offers support groups for veterans with bipolar disorder and those who care about them. These groups are held from 4:00pm - 5:30pm on the first and third Wednesday of every month. For more information, call Robert Socherman at (503) 220-8262 ext. 54522.

Journal Club

On the fourth Tuesday of each month, the staff of the Mood Disorders Center invites other clinicians to hear a colleague present the findings of a recent publication. If you are a clinician in or visiting the Portland area, please email or call us at (503) 220-3483 for more information on attending or presenting at the journal club.

 

Case Presentation

On the second Tuesday of each month the staff of the Mood Disorders Center invites other clinicians to hear a colleague present a case report concerning mood disorders. If you are a clinician in or visiting the Portland area, please email or call us at (503) 220-3483 for more information on attending or presenting at the case conference.
