Robert Socherman, Ph.D., is the Research Coordinator of the Mood Disorders Research and Treatment Center at the Portland VAMC. He has been involved in mental health research during the last 10 years, specializing in mood disorders, health services research, and underserved populations. As a Clinical Psychologist, his areas of focus are the treatment of depressive, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. Dr. Socherman has recently served as a Clinical and Research Specialist for the Systematic Treatment Enhancement Program for Bipolar Disorder (STEP-BD), and studied factors on increasing access to mental health services for the Medicaid population. Other areas of interest are juvenile delinquency, barriers to care, and mental health parity.
