Peter Hauser, M.D., is the Director of the Portland VAMC Clinical Drug Trials Program for Mental Health. He is also the Clinical Director of the Behavior Health and Clinical Neurosciences Division and the Chief of Psychiatry Service at the Portland VAMC. Dr. Hauser is Professor of Psychiatry at the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU). As Clinical Director, he has the authority and resources at his disposal to ensure the program's success. Prior to coming to the Portland VA, Dr. Hauser was at the Baltimore VAMC where he was Director of the Mental Health Research Program. There he was PI or co-PI on numerous clinical drug trials involving FDA-approved as well as investigational drugs for the treatment of mood disorders and schizophrenia. Prior to the Baltimore VA, Dr. Hauser spent 6 years as a clinical researcher at the National Institutes of Health. His areas of research include mood disorders, ADHD, and psychotic disorders. He is author of 4 book chapters and 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
