Boise Pharmacy Residency Program

The Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Idaho State University College of Pharmacy offer a postgraduate year one (PGY1) ASHP-accredited, non-degree granting residency program.

Under new ASHP standards, our training programs are designed to:

  • participate in pharmacist-managed outpatient clinics (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, insulin titration, obesity, smoking cessation)
  • manage and improve the medication process
  • provide evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management with the interdisciplinary team
  • utilize medical informatics
  • exercise leadership and practice management skills
  • demonstrate project management skills
  • provide expertise in medication utilization and practice related education/training
  • develop skills necessary to become an effective didactic and clinical educator, skilled clinician, and scholar
  • conduct pharmacy practice research to present at the Western States Conference for Pharmacy Residents, Fellows and Preceptors
  • exercise added leadership and practice management skills
